“Larry, what’s your favorite song? Or your favorite piece of music?” Truth is, I can’t tell you because to take all the music I’ve ever heard and enjoyed and reduce it to one thing above all the others is simply impossible for me.
I grew up around all kinds of music, learned to play piano, sang in the high school choir, and built a formidable record collection by the time I was in my early 20’s. Then I put in nearly 30 years as a radio announcer, working in album rock, adult contemporary, jazz, and classical music formats. In 2010, I left the radio business, and in 2016, started doing my weekly eclectic music show, Kensington’s Premium Blend, as a passionate hobby. It began as something I did (and continue doing) for a small community radio station in Columbus, Ohio. Since 2017, the program has been distributed to community stations throughout the United States by the Pacifica Network.
Every KPB program brings you some carefully considered combination of popular music, Americana, jazz, folk, Celtic, and anything else that adds flavor and spice. I always include a little bit of commentary, usually in the form of easily digested factoids about the music and the artists who make it.
